Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri confirmed that Pope Francis “informed me that he would like to come to Lebanon, but after the government is formed, this should be a message to accelerate the formation.”
He said in a statement after his meeting with the Pope in the Vatican, “We have spoken about all Lebanon’s problems, and they know those who obstruct and those who do not obstruct and there will be visits from the Vatican to Lebanon to solve matters.”
He added, “To His Holiness, Pope Francis, I explained the problems we are suffering from and asked for Lebanon’s assistance, as he views the Lebanese as one body and a message from which moderation and coexistence emerge.”
