Vanden's oppressive rebounding, and solid shooting from senior shooting guard Tyler Thompson (25 points) and senior power forward Ashan Huff (19 points) kept the Vikings comfortably ahead of a Wood offense that struggled to make shots.
Tyler Thompson hit four of his eight 3-pointers in the second quarter and his 18 points in the period gave the Vikings breathing room in a 71-52 Monticello Empire League victory to keep Vanden in first place.
