In separate incidents, three raging fires have wreaked havoc in the Helderberg.
The life of a teenager was claimed in a raging fire in Nomzamo earlier this week, while a devastating blaze ripped through a popular Strand tavern and a runaway wildfire along the railway line in Somerset West threatened homes and businesses.
In the most recent incident, firefighters discovered that a 19-year-old man had burnt to death in a shack fire which broke out in the Robben Island informal settlement on Monday night (11 January).
