Most countries only have a small handful of parties who make it into the legislature, and usually only two who could conceivably end up controlling the executive. This time around, Israel has four parties who could conceivably end up with a ruling coalition, 19 parties being polled for Knesset seats, nine additional parties of note who have not yet announced their intentions for the election, and numerous subfactions within those parties. Today, I am going to clear the confusion. In this article I will be going through each party, their history, their ideology, their platform, their internal factions, and their election prospects. Here we go:

Thursday at midnight is the deadline for submitting lists of candidates for the 24th Knesset elections, to be conducted on March 23, and one of the most curious phenomena of this campaign, former Likud minister Gideon Saar’s Tikva Chadasha (New Hope) party has sent The Jewish Press Online its final list (presumably they also sent it to many other news outlets).
The list was submitted to the Central Elections Committee on Wednesday night by some of Likud Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu most noteworthy foes within his coalition during the 23rd Knesset: MK Dr. Yifat Shasha BitonâNetanyahu’s Minister of Construction and Housing; Yoaz HendelâBibi’s Minister of Communications; and former Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Ofer Berkovitch.

With less than 80 days left until Israelis head to the polls for the fourth time in two years, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strongest challenger has introduced a noticeable addition to his political roster and promised a string of major reforms if elected.
Gideon Sa ar, the former longtime Likud lawmaker who last month made a splash by forming his own party, over the weekend pulled off a significant coup, adding former Likud prime minister Yitzhak Shamir’s granddaughter to his ranks.
