Alton woman faces charges of hitting teen hitting with bat

EDWARDSVILLE An Alton woman was charged after striking a 15-year-old youth in the head with a baseball bat.
Alexandria N. Phillips, 19, was charged Jan. 26 with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.
According to court documents, on Jan. 13 Phillips struck a 15-year-old male youth in the head with a baseball bat, causing a laceration that required seven stitches.
Bail was set at $40,000.
Other recent Madison County charges include:
• James R. South, 34, of Bethalto, was charged Jan. 26 with theft under $500 (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on July 17 South took less than $500 in cash from another person. It was noted that he had a prior conviction for aggravated robbery. Bail was set at $15,000.
