PORTSMOUTH – Police found a 65-year-old man dead outside his home at 14 Mare Terrace Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m., according to police reports.
Detectives from the Portsmouth Police Department are working with Rhode Island State Police detectives and the Rhode Island Bureau of Criminal Investigation on the investigation into the death, according to Portsmouth Deputy Chief Michael Arnold. The BCI works with the state attorney general s office.
“The cause of death was not immediately apparent,” wrote Portsmouth Det. Lt. John Cahoon in an email to the Newport Daily News. “The state police was also on scene to assist with the investigation. The cause of death is still under investigation at this time.”
