Critically Acclaimed Award-Winning Drama “Song Without a Name” Named as the Oscar® Entry for Peru

“ Song Without a Name ” (“Canción sin nombre”), a critically acclaimed, award-winning drama directed by Melina León, has been announced as Peru’s International Feature Film entry for the 93 rd Academy Awards ®. León becomes the third Peruvian female director to represent Peru at the Oscars ® since 1967, when the country first started to submit its films to the awards, following in the footsteps of Claudia Llosa, whose “The Milk of Sorrow” at the 82 nd Academy Awards ® became the first and only Peruvian film to ever receive a nomination.
Denver Prince
After earning a grant from the National Science Foundation, Denver Prince was attending Vanderbilt University in the summer of 1959 when he was contacted by A.E. Burdick, the academic dean at Arkansas State Teachers College, now the University of Central Arkansas, about teaching at the institution.
“I was taking 14 hours and didn’t have time to come to Conway for an interview. Dean Burdick met me at the airport in Nashville to interview me for the job at UCA,” Prince said. “He came back and reported to Dr. Snow that he felt they should hire me.”
