Commentary: The ‘Golden Rule’ for a better mouth
By Michael F. Chandler
For the Victorville Daily Press
The Bible may be rightly referred to as the volume of “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.”
Following upon its foundational theological propositions are multiple directives on how to treat people. The so-called “Golden Rule” is expressed in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matt 7:12) and His Sermon on the Plain (Luke 6:31-34).
This standard of love is attainable only by the perfect God (Matt 5:43-48), yet the saying dates as far back as the Law of Moses (Lev 19:18) and is regarded in the NT as the second greatest commandment (Matt 22:39; Mark 12:31; Rom 13:9; Gal 5:14; James 2:8).

The perfections of our maker are such that he perfectly loves that which he perfectly hates at the same time, writes Pastor Michael F. Chandler.
