Andrea Cooper hasn’t seen her son and his family in a year.
The Naples resident has a lot of underlying health issues so she’s worked hard to not expose herself to COVID-19.
On Friday, she came one step closer to regaining some sense of normalcy and the possibility of hugging her family once more after getting vaccinated at NCH.
“It’s a blessing,” Cooper said.
Not having time with her family has been hard, she said. Her grandchildren have asked when they will see her again.
“Not only is (it) emotionally hard but sometimes it physically hurts,” Cooper said. “The hardest part is when Addison, the youngest one, said ‘will I ever see you again Nana.’ That was hard … That was devastating. ”
An error message creating frustration and worry among people, and all they were trying to do is get a COVID-19 vaccine.
NCH opened hundreds of vaccine appointments Thursday, only to face major issues with the website. Making it even worse: no one could get through to the hospital system for answers.
For many of you, times are lonely. Some like North Naples resident Ann Adams have jumped at every chance to get the vaccine. She hoped NCH would be her saving grace when their website opened up at noon.
“Click next, click next, and I kept doing it and was doing great and I was ecstatic, that I made it to get this vaccine because I’m 75,” and then she had trouble.
