The teen accused of stabbing another teen to death in downtown Sudbury in 2019 did not plead guilty, as expected, on Tuesday.
However, another teen who lied to Greater Sudbury Police about murder suspect Steffin Rees pleaded guilty to attempting to obstruct justice.

As a result, Justice Louise Serre sentenced Roger Andrade, 19, to a one-year conditional sentence. Andrade will be under house arrest for the first six months, then a curfew for the final six.
“As the facts unfolded, the seriousness of it came to the forefront,” Justice Louise Serre told Andrade, just before issuing the sentence, which the Crown and defence lawyer Michael Venturi had suggested. “What you did, protecting a friend involved in a hideous setting, be fortunate you haven’t been charged with more serious offences.
