Contest to encourage more people to illuminate their homes

20 Dec 2020 PRIZES: Sponsors Chris Schroeter, of Campion Gardens, and Mark Beard, of OF Bell Injection Mounding, with Toft Hill and Etherley Christmas lights competition organisers Sharon Walker and Donna Hopper DISAPPOINTED that their villages do not have a festive display, residents of Toft Hill and Etherley have teamed up to put on a competition to encourage more homes to be decorated. Villagers Donna Hopper and Sharon Walker decided to start the challenge after people commented on social media about the lack of festive street lighting. Mrs Hopper, who has been lighting up her home for about 25 years, said: “All we have is on the community centre, but it is set back so you can’t see them.”
