dana: virginia mom is demanding justice after she says her daughter s abuser received just a slap on the wrist for a horrific crime. mark meredith joins us live with a look at why this case could turn into a political rallying cry in virginia. this all centers around a horrific child abuse case in northern virginia. the victim is a teenager but told her parents that she and another young girl was sexually abused for years. an arrest was made in 2019. the suspect pled guilty a few months ago and he was sentenced to 17 years if price on. prison. the mom says it was a much shorter sentence. i want to fight for my daughter every day. even the judge who oversaw the case said he was outraged
at the sentence. there was an agreement reached and feared a full trial would only prolong the victim s pain. judge thomasman told the victim on monday in court you are victimized not only by this man but by your own government. i m offended for you. we reached out to the commonwealth attorney s office 17 year sentence is the high-end of the guidelines and that they believe this is something that is better than what it could have been. respectfully we find it inappropriate for the judge to make political statements from the bench. the man who oversees the fairfax attorney s office he did not directly prosecute the case. there is a group of signatures to have him recalled from office. he accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in pac money from a liberal activist george sorrows. the latest child abuse case is a soft on crime mentality that stems from the top down.
