OTTAWA – Three homicide charges have been filed against a man taken into custody Monday. According to court records, 29-year-old Michael Steven Swift of Mokena was being held at the LaSalle County Jail. A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday morning where more details are expected to be released by the LaSalle County State’s Attorney and the LaSalle County Coroner regarding a death investigation. Authorities were called to an apartment in the 300 block of West McKinley Road in Ottawa for what was described as an isolated incident Monday morning.

OTTAWA – A 21-year-old Ottawa woman died from multiple stab wounds on Monday according to the LaSalle County Coroner. During a press conference on Wednesday, authorities identified the victim as Grace N. Taylor. The suspect in the homicide, 29-year-old Michael Steven Swift of Mokena, was taken into custody that same day during an investigation in conjunction with the Ottawa Police and Mokena Police. LaSalle County State’s Attorney Todd Martin said that police were first notified of the incident in the 300 block of West McKinley Road in Ottawa by a phone call from a family member related to Swift. Swift is facing three counts of homicide and is being held on $3 million bond.
