Family members of a man who was shot and killed by Toronto police in Simcoe last November are speaking out about a decision released by the province’s Special Investigations Unit last week.
The Special Investigations Unit has cleared a Toronto police officer who fatally shot a gunsmith in southwestern Ontario in November during the execution of a search warrant, saying there are no reasonable grounds to lay charges.
The gun Kotanko was holding wasn't operable at the time, according to the report, but the officer who pulled the trigger wouldn't have known that, according to Martino.
