A man was caught on camera brutally stomping a parakeet to death inside a Michigan pet store last week.
The 22-year-old was attempting to return the $30 bird to the Critter Pet Shop in Allen Park, southwest of Detroit, when a staff member noticed the pet was injured. We saw the whole wing was bloody. So we re thinking his bird did it to it or another animal might have done something to the bird so my brother said there s nothing we can do for you with the bird, now, Rick Simms, the owner of the pet store, told Fox2 Detroit.

Authorities are investigating and likely to charge a man with felony animal cruelty after they said he smashed and then stomped on a blue parakeet in an Allen Park pet shop. I don t understand why he did it, and I don t think we ll ever know, Allen Park Police Detective Stephen Lazuka said Tuesday morning. I can t imagine what the people who were shopping there would think seeing something like that happen.
Police said a 22-year-old Dearborn man walked into Critter Pet Shop seeking to return the $30 parakeet. He seemed angry. Shop owner Michael Simms offered to give him store credit for the bird.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Critter Pet Shop has been a mainstay in Allen Park for 43 years.
Last week, a 22-year-old Dearborn man came into the store with a parakeet that he wanted to return.
The man appeared irate and wanted a $30 refund for the parakeet. Owner Michael Simms was behind the counter.
“I calmed him down and continued to tell him, ‘I’ll give you credit, you can get anything in the store and I’ll make sure the bird is OK.’ With how irate he was, I didn’t know how he was going to care for it. I was more worried about the animal than anything,” Simms said.
“We had plans. We were going places,” poet Naomi Shihab Nyes wrote in her opening stanza of “Dear Vaccine.”
Her words serve as both invitation and inspiration for others to share their pandemic hopes, grief, humor and insight on an interactive community project called the Global Vaccine Poem.
The collaboration between the Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University and the University of Arizona Poetry Center aims to create meaning from hardship, spread vaccine awareness and build on Wick’s Traveling Stanzas project that fuses poetry with everyday life.
David Hassler, director of Wick, said the ambitious project aims to include the voices of 1 million people.
