East Meadow, L.I.: Our government seems to be hell bent on ruining itself. A balloon enters its airspace and they shoot it down, then warn citizens not to touch it or go near it. Sounds logical to me, but if you didn’t know what’s in it, why did you shoot it down? I’ve seen jetliners get refueled in midair, I’ve seen ballistic nets shot over a man running on an airstrip you can’t tell me there was not a more nimble way to bring it down.
Cedarhurst, L.I.: In your latest piece of half-truths and drivel, you state that Matthew Mahrer is a Jew, the grandson on his father’s side of a man who is a Holocaust survivor. Had you taken the time to Google what defines one’s Jewish lineage, it would have informed you that Judaism is passed through the mother-to-child process. Unless his mother and her mother before her were Jewish, Mahrer definitely is not.
Point Pleasant, N.J.: Voicer Karen Cirillo makes an excellent point. Italian-Americans should be proud of our heritage and we should do everything possible to end the negative stereotyping of those of us of Italian descent.
Bronx: The latest Republican gripe centers around new funding for the Internal Revenue Service in the reconciliation bill passed by Democrats. Republicans have claimed that 87,000 armed agents will be hired to harass middle-class Americans and small businesses. On Fox News, Sen. Chuck Grassley stated: “Are they going to have a strike force that goes in with AK-15s already loaded, ready to shoot some small businessperson in Iowa with these?”
