one thing senator kerry and i were talking about is the senate is supposed to vote at 10:30, and based on senate time, we don t know if that means 11 or whatever, but we are supposed to vote at 10:30. at some point we have to swap the gavel back and forth and race and vote and come back. we ll try to keep the hearing going during that time. also, i know that senator kerry has really been a leader on this type of legislation looking at privacy concerns and has been working on a bill, and so we would like to hear from him in just a few moments on that. what i thought i would do is give a very brief statement, and i know that senator hutchenson is on the way and other senators are on the way. we might dispense with the opening statements for all the senators if that s okay, except i thought i might call on senator kerry for a few moments to talk about his legislation and then go on to the panel, and once senator hutchenson shows up, we ll recognize her for an opening statement.
