Signing news: Melbourne City extend Glover and Good

melbournecityfc.com.au 1610400825,1610401067 Melbourne City FC have announced the contract extensions of centre-back Curtis Good and Olyroos goalkeeper Tom Glover.  Both players were contracted until the end of this season but Good has now signed a three-year extension while Glover has extended for a further two seasons beyond 2020/21.  Good has made 72 appearances for City and scored two goals while Glover has appeared in 17 fixtures for the Club since becoming the number one goalkeeper midway through last season.  Good has consistently proven himself to be one of the A-League’s best defenders since returning to the Club from England prior to the 2018/19 season.

After playing 10 games during City s double winning 2015-16 campaign either side of stints with Adelaide United, Chidiac spent three seasons in Madrid, making 22 appearances and netting three goals. Bringing a wealth of national and international experience to City s midfield, Chidiac expressed her excitement to get underway following her 14 days quarantine, as her teammates prepare to face Brisbane in their season opener tomorrow afternoon. “After a tough 12 months this is the right time for me to come back home for a change and a new challenge and I’m very excited to be returning to a quality league like the W-League, Chidiac said.

Matildas midfielder Alex Chidiac is back in the W-League with defending champions Melbourne City FC, after three seasons at Atletico Madrid. Chidiac was part of City s title-winning squad in 2015-16 before two seasons with Adelaide FC and then a European move to Spain s Primera Division, where she played 22 games. After injuries and a lack of game time with Atleti last season, Chidiac and the club last month agreed to terminate her contract.

City sign technically-gifted Japanese midfielder Kira

An attacking midfielder, Kira has scored five goals in 12 internationals for Japan. The 2014 Asian Cup winner joins City after a 10-year career at Japanese top flight club Urawa Reds. Australia was the first country I ever visited, and I still would consider it to be my favourite country - I ve always wanted to come over here to play, Kira said. Melbourne City has been a great story over the last few seasons and are a successful club that I really wanted to be a part of. This will be my first time playing outside of Japan and I can t wait to get started at City and meet all of my teammates.
