American Botanical Council Presents Botanical Excellence Awards at 16th Annual Celebration Ceremony
AUSTIN, Texas, May 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) The American Botanical Council (ABC) presented six awards during its 16th annual Celebration and Botanical Excellence Awards Ceremony on May 25, which was held virtually for the first time and livestreamed on ABC’s YouTube channel.

This year’s event celebrated the accomplishments of the nonprofit education organization in its 33rd year and honored the recipients of six Botanical Excellence Awards. ABC’s Botanical Excellence Awards were initiated in 2006. Recipients were chosen based on their outstanding contributions to the herbal and botanical communities.

The hemp legislation moving its way through the U.S. House of Representatives, H.R. 841, will no doubt undergo changes before being signed into law.
Hemp CBD companies will like some parts that give them legit market access as a dietary supplement, dislike others that prevent access into foods and beverages, and really dislike others that could make it financially improbable to remain in business. And if they can afford it companies might appreciate FDA s road map for sustainable business success.
At its core, H.R. 841 would allow the use of hemp, CBD or any other ingredient derived from hemp in a supplement, provided the supplement meets other applicable requirements. In essence, FDA would have to treat hemp CBD just like any other dietary supplement. That means certain market access but also requirements that not every marketer and manufacturer of CBD oil is familiar with or capable of completing.

Several consumer groups and industry trade organizations are in favor of a new requirement that dietary supplements be listed with FDA, highlighting an area where diverse stakeholders can find common ground related to modernization of DSHEA. Yet even within the dietary supplement industry, there remain divisions over the benefits of a mandatory product listing.
