Francis (Frank) Moughan Wednesday, May 19 th peacefully in the loving care of his family and staff at Brooklodge Nursing Home, Ballyglunin Co Galway Frank, beloved husband of Eileen and dear father of Proinsios, Kevin, Fergal, Lorcan and Caitriona; Predeceased by his adored sister Kathleen and her husband and son Jim and Michael Mannion and his brothers Fr Michael, Tom, Peter and Christy.Sadly missed by his loving wife, daughter, sons, daughters-in-law Ann, Fiona, Lena and Siobhán, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Frank’s remains will be removed tomorrow (Thursday 20th) from Flanagan s funeral home Ballymoe to St. Croan s Church, Ballymoe for funeral mass at 4 o clock. Burial afterwards in Kilcroan Cemetery.

Shannonbridge turbines to turn for final time

Midlands Correspondent The turbines at the West Offaly Power Station in Shannonbridge will turn for the final time today as the ESB prepares to shut down production. Workers arrived for the final shift before 9am and last night Bord na Móna staff brought in the last trailer of peat from the Blackwater Bog nearby to be burned. Former employee Michael Mannion, who was the first man to haul into Shannonbridge in 1965, was present to see worker Adrian Murray of the present transport group become the last man to tip peat from the trailers into the production at West Offaly Power.
