A Henrietta man is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly beating his dog, a black Labrador retriever, outside a Mendon veterinary clinic last month.
Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement investigators have charged Michael Maiorano with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, a misdemeanor. He will appear in Mendon Town Court at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
On March 17, the investigators were contacted by staff at Mendon Village Animal Hospital, 1380 Pittsford Mendon Road, who reported seeing Maiorano hit the dog, named Jetta, repeatedly and with a closed fist while outside the veterinary clinic and after the dog had been put in a car.
They described the incidents as “excessive, uncontrolled and horrific.”
