At school, I remember sitting in the sixth form club, debating the environmental issues of the day. Acid rain corroded buildings and polluted waterways. CFCs caused the ‘greenhouse effect’, melting the polar ice caps at an alarming rate. Now, while acid rain isn’t much mentioned any more, we are in the grips of a climate emergency. The dangers we face are (with notable exceptions) universally agreed upon.
