Brookline official threatened after comments on Trump, police

Wicked Local After watching disgruntled supporters of former President Donald Trump storm the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6, Select Board member Raul Fernandez questioned whether there’s room in law enforcement for anyone who still backs Trump. Fernandez’s comments came during a Jan. 12 Select Board meeting, and for a week afterward, all was quiet. Then the messages and calls began pouring in. All expressed support for the police. “Blue Lives Matter more than your life matters,” one of the messages read, according to Fernandez.

Brookline s top earners: Town employees who made the most money in 2020

Brookline’s top earners: Town employees who made the most money in 2020 Wicked Local The Brookline Police Department accounted for nine of the town’s top 10 highest-paid employees in 2020, taking home a combined total of more than $2.5 million, according to town payroll data. As in previous years, much of those officers’ compensation comes from overtime and detail work, which can essentially amount to a second job for officers willing to put in the hours. Officer Robert Mayer, for example, added $140,100 the most of any officer last year in paid detail work on top of his base salary of $72,621.93.   In fact, all but one of the top 25 highest earners came from the police department. The sole exception, Town Administrator Mel Kleckner, came in at  No. 6 with a gross pay of $248,338.51.
