Raiders Nachbaur goes beast mode again, but red hot Wheaties squeeze by

The Prince Albert Raiders gave the hottest team in the WHL everything they could handle, but still couldn’t come away with the two points. The Brandon Wheat Kings won 3-2 for their seventh straight victory, the longest current streak in the WHL, to sit on top of the WHL East Division standings with a 10-2-1 record. The Raiders (4-7-1-1) were not behind in the game until Ridly Greig scored a shorthanded goal midway through the third period. “We deserved to win the game. We should have won the game,” Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid said. “I thought our kids played great, they played hard. We deserved to win the game.”

Injuries piling up for the Raiders, but so are the points

As the Prince Albert Raiders’ injury report continues to unfortunately fill up, they continue to rack up points anyway. The Raiders have started the hub season in Regina with five points out of a possible six after their 5-3 victory against the Brandon Wheat Kings Tuesday. Before the game, the Raiders announced their captain Kaiden Guhle will be “out indefinitely” with a hand injury. During Tuesday’s game, Logan Danis left the game shortly after the first period. And overager Justin Nachbaur is day-to-day after suffering a lower-body injury in the season opener against the Regina Pats on Friday. That doesn’t even include the fact the Raiders couldn’t bring over Belarusians Aliaksei Protas, Ilya Usau (American dual citizen), and newly drafted Uladzislau Shyla.
