Pewsey Surgery, Pewsey Gill May, Director of Nursing and Quality, said: “Getting all of our GP-led sites open within the first two working weeks of the new year had always been our goal and, although there is still a long way to, we are delighted to be up and running. “Some people may be anxious about not having been invited to receive their vaccine, but I can reassure them that no person will be missed, so please don’t worry as every day we are contacting more and more people to come forward to get the jab. “We have already given the vaccine to thousands of local people, and these numbers will continue to increase week on week.
The start of 2021 will see more people across the county eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine as more sites open in Wiltshire and the surroundings. Areas of Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire that have seen a coronavirus vaccine site open this week include Trowbridge, Calne, Batheaston, Wilton, Tidworth, Malmesbury and Midsomer Norton. More new vaccination sites are expected to open between today (January 8) and Friday, January 15. Some of these will be offering the newly-approved Oxford vaccine. These community vaccines come in addition to the many vaccinations being carried out each week by the teams at the Great Western Hospital.

Northlands Surgery, Calne Director of nursing and quality, Gill May said: “To know that more vaccination sites are opening up within the first two weeks of the year is remarkable, and a reflection of our overall ambition to offer the vaccine quickly and safely to as many people as possible. “I know that many people, especially those over the age of 80, will be feeling anxious over not having yet received an invitation to be vaccinated, but please be patient and rest assured that we are working our way through the lists and no person will be forgotten.” Since December, a number of venues across the region, including the Steam Museum in Swindon and the Corn Exchange in Devizes, have established vaccination clinics, which have helped hundreds of people to receive the vaccine in a single day.
