Geiger leads FIS Ski Flying World Championships after two rounds Friday, 11 December 2020
Germany s Karl Geiger holds the halfway lead at the International Ski Federation Ski Flying World Championships in Planica in Slovenia.
Geiger is top of the standings with 431.2 points, ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway in second place on 426.6.
The German s title bid was largely aided by his first-round jump, clearing a colossal distance of 241 metres to earn 223.4 points, narrowly ahead of Austria s Michael Hayböck.
Hayböck cleared 245.5m, but only scored 221.1.
A solid second round from Geiger ensured he is in the lead at the individual competition s midpoint, while Granerud moved from fourth up to second with the second-best points total of the second round.
