Arkansas. Senator cotton is a harvard law grad, served as an Army Infantry officer in iraq and afghanistan. Hes on several committees, banking, intelligence, Armed Services but we are going to talk about todays immigration. Hes been a leader on immigration issue even before the president kind of raised its profile. I appreciate, senator, you coming in and giving us some time. He will have to bolt for a meeting on the hill, so we will cut this off at 8 15 a. M. My first question is that you are as i understand, a sixth generation arkansan. Arkansas has been attracting more immigrants than it used to, but it is clearly not a leading immigration state. What attracted you to get involved in this issue and become something of a thought leader and a debate leader . Sen. Cotton first off thanks for having me here. Thanks for the center for hosting this conversation and also the important work the center does on immigration. Immigration is a central issue for the United States, really for a lo
Business, the media, across the board, and the president since hes been in office has stoked that in an unprecedented way. The argument that theyre going to make about the fact that hes obstructing certainly matters on constitutional level but does it matter on a who cares level. Doing impeachment this way is really hard because it allows one side to cast the other as seeking to legitimize them. Thats what the American People should not want because it undermines our institutions. Were going to hear from three witnesses basically at length to

Its all about the constitution and his misconduct. If it meets the standard of impeachable conduct as we have proved, it doesnt matter whether you like him. It doesnt matter whether you dislike him. What matters is whether he is a danger to the country because he will do it again. And none of us can have confidence based on his record that he will not do it again because he is telling us every day that he will. So even though it wasnt mentioned by the managers, adam schiff and all the others, as he was making his closing, there was a story breaking that has major relevance not only to this trial, but the central idea of whether or not these senators know what they need to know. What is this story . It is proof of this president s perfty, tape of him reportedly talking to lev parnas, and they are having a direct conversation,
