The Idaho National Guard identified the pilots as Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jesse Anderson, 43; Chief Warrant Officer 3 George “Geoff” Laubhan, 39; and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Matthew Peltzer, 43. Anderson and Laubhan were from Boise, and Peltzer was from Nampa, just west of Idaho’s capital, the Guard said. Idaho Guard officials said Wednesday that the three had signaled about 7:45 p.m. local time Tuesday that they were returning to their Boise base after completing a routine training flight in the mountains near Lucky Peak State Park. Just 15 minutes later Idaho Guard officials were alerted the UH-60 Black Hawk’s emergency signal had been activated.

Three pilots of the Idaho Army National Guard were killed in a helicopter crash while on a routine training flight, officials announced Wednesday.
The incident happened on Tuesday shortly after 8 p.m. south of Lucky Peak near the city of Boise the state’s capital. Army officials confirmed that all three victims aboard were pilots.
“This is a tremendous loss to the Idaho National Guard and our community,” Maj. Gen. Michael Garshak, the adjutant general and commander of the Guard said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones as we work through this tragedy.”

Three Idaho Army National Guard soldiers were killed Feb. 2 when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a training flight near Boise, the state capital.
“All three personnel aboard were pilots with the Idaho Army National Guard participating in a routine training flight,” the Idaho National Guard announced on its Facebook page.

BOISE, Idaho - Three Idaho Army National Guard pilots died Tuesday evening when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Boise during a training flight.
The helicopter was last contacted at 7:45 p.m. while it was on a routine training flight, Col. Christopher Burt said. The UH-60 Black Hawk s emergency transmitter locator was activated about 15 minutes later.
Search and rescue crews found the wreckage about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday near a mountain named Lucky Peak. The names of the pilots killed in the crash were not immediately released so that their relatives could be notified. They were the only people on board.
