34-inch irrigation cap possible if dry spell continues • Sixth driest year on record says TID Farmers are looking at less irrigation water being available for the upcoming season as the area is facing its sixth driest year on record to date. During what has so far been one of the driest water years on record for the Turlock Irrigation District, the water agency’s directors on Feb. 23 received information on just how much or how little irrigation water local farmers could potentially receive this season.  “Sadly, this year is shaping up to be a very dry year as you guys have seen.it is the sixth driest year on record to date, so there is nothing that we can do about that,” said TID Assistant General Manager of Water Resources Tou Her. “So far, Mother Nature has played its card and it is dry so far. Considering that it follows a previously dry year, it makes this workshop very necessary and prudent.”
