All five McAllen mayoral candidates hit the stage Monday night for another forum.
But this time, the questions were asked by kids at the Boys and Girls Club of McAllen.
Among the main topics discussed was how the candidates would handle the evolving COVID-19 situation.
Mayoral candidate Othal Brand Jr. said pandemic money that the city receives should be spent in the private sector. Provide the masks and technology that s available and schools are starting to look into and purchase in order to make it an environment where masks and distancing are not required,” Brand said. “That s what I would pursue.

This election season, McAllen residents will have to choose between five candidates for the next mayor of McAllen.
Among those seeking your vote is Veronica Vela Whitacre, who s served on the McAllen commission for eight years and is currently the mayor pro tem. Whitacre says her top priority is adjusting the budget to help meet the needs of the community.
“Businesses that were strong at one point, and they deserve to be strong again, so we need to make sure that we have the grants that are able to help get them over that one little hump,” Whitacre said.

Five people hoping to become mayor of McAllen held an online debate Wednesday.
Each candidate explained why he or she should be the one to replace longtime Mayor Jim Darling, who is not seeking re-election after more than eight years in office.
Each candidate was given 90 seconds to answer questions.
Candidate Michael Fallek with Mcallen Planning and Zoning Commission said his entire time in McAllen, he’s brought new businesses to town as a businessman.
Candidate Javier Villalobos, a Mcallen City Commissioner, said as a commissioner, he prides himself in making the tough decisions.
A third candidate has jumped into the race to be the next mayor of McAllen. Michael Fallek, a longtime community leader, has announced his bid to succeed Jim Darling.
In announcing his candidacy, Fallek cited both his business and legal expertise that he says can guide the city through challenging times.
Fallek, who serves on the McAllen Planning and Zoning Commission, joins two city commissioners in the mayoral race – District 1 Commissioner Javier Villalobos and District 6 Commissioner Veronica Whitacre.
