Three bus maintainers at a Staten Island depot were caught collecting thousands of dollars in a no-show overtime scheme, according to a report from the MTA’s inspector general — and two of them no longer work for the agency. The men — all of whom worked for the Yukon Bus Depot on Staten Island — were placed under investigation last year following an anonymous tip that the three maintainers .
Three bus maintainers and four line supervisors at a Staten Island depot were disciplined in connection with a no-show overtime scheme, according to a report from the MTA’s inspector general. The maintainers were surveilled from June through August 2022, with investigators watching the men’s homes as well as the depot.
A suspected drug dealer who jumped into a river to escape police was apprehended after slowly floating downstream for six hours. Michael Cortez, 31, jumped into the Cache la Poudre River in the US state of Colorado while pursued by police who identified him as a wanted man.
A wanted man spent more than six hours in the Poudre River on Thursday in an attempt to evade police, according to a news release from the Fort Collins Police
“[The agency] should use this opportunity to stop its recurring cycle of fiscal crises by paying down and managing its debt more appropriately to shore up future operating and capital budgets,” DiNapoli said in a statement.
