AN aggressive drunk who subjected his own dad to a horrific and violent attack has been jailed. Michael Conreen Jnr had been drinking all day on June 20 last year when he went to his father’s address in MacDonald Avenue, Westcliff. Once inside he told his father they were going to have a drink together but when his father said he had no money the-28 year-old became violent. He punched the victim in his head, hit him with a six-inch thick chain bike lock, and then attacked him with an eight-inch kitchen knife. Conreen Jnr continued to punch the victim until he was able to talk Conreen Jnr into trying to arrange getting some money so they could get out of the house.

Basildon Crown Court has heard more shocking cases this week, from a man imprisoning his own father, a paedophile threatening rape and two men who robbed a taxi driver. Kevin Hutchinson and Roy O Donoghue Kevin Hutchinson, 25, of Appleton Way Wickford and Roy O’Donoghue, 34, of Finchley Road, Westcliff targeted the driver in Appletree Way, Wickford at 2.45am on September 12. The driver was left with bruising and swelling to his face and lost two teeth in the attack while the pair stole his phone.
