Ceremony to honor fallen officers on Friday
Local law enforcement will remember and celebrate the lives of officers killed in the line of duty at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14th, in front of the Law Enforcement Center, 210 W. First Ave.
This year the ceremony, which marks national Peace Officers Memorial Day and concludes locally declared Police Week, will be a joint tribute by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office and Hutchinson Police Department.
President John F. Kennedy first designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962.
Hutchinson Mayor Steven Garza on Tuesday proclaimed May 9 through 15 as Police week in honor of the peace officers who have lost their lives or have become disabled in the performance of duty.
