Palm Coast, FL - The State Attorney’s Office is granted an indictment by a Flagler County Grand Jury in connection to the 2018 overdose death of a 31-year-old man. The indictment for 42-year-old Joseph Carrol is the second indictment in the investigation of Michael Burnett Jr., who died in June 2018 after overdosing on fentanyl-laced heroin. The first to be indicted in this investigation was 39-year-old Allyson Dawn Bennett, who remains in custody charged with first-degree murder. Bennett was one of four homicide indictments issued to the Flagler County Sheriff’s (FCSO) Office back in January. A grand jury found probable cause to believe that Carrol conspired with Bennett to supply a mixture of fentanyl and heroin, which ultimately led to Burnett’s death in 2018. Carrol was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder by the FCSO Special Investigation Unit (SIU) at his Shady Lane home. He has since been booked into the Flagler County
