ArdentX LLC, a Jacksonville-based transportation and logistics company, intends to relocate its headquarters and launch a warehouse at Freebird Commerce Center in North Jacksonville. The move more than triples ArdentX’s office space, launches its warehousing venture and will double the capacity for employees and truck owner-operators. “I’ve been doing this 40 years,” founder and CEO Chuck Miller said April 26. “We are just really good at what we do. We over-communicate and our service is unbelievable.” Miller says the freight-brokerage company always is available, and staff works on weekends. He expects $120 million in sales this year, up from $70 million last year and $50 million in 2019.

Concealment Express LLC is seeking Downtown Development Review Board conceptual design approval for its plans to renovate a two-story brick and stucco building at 1451 Louisa St., according to Downtown Investment Authority documents released April 1. The property, formerly Dimension Design, is on 0.36 acres bounded to the north by Home Street and to the south by Louisa Street. Its two buildings total 15,694 square feet, according to Duval County Property Appraiser records.

With an anticipated May opening date, Estrella Cocina will bring 150 rooftop seats and 50 to 70 seats indoors atop the VyStar Credit Union campus building at 100 W. Bay St. Co-owner and chef Beliakoff said the eatery’s rooftop exterior will feature fire pit gathering areas, bar tables, a lounge and table seats, with an accompanying glass wind barrier to accommodate for year-round use of the space. Estrella’s interior will tout an “airy Mediterranean-Baja Mexico” vibe that will be open for lunch, dinner and full bar service. The space is comprised of 3,500 square feet inside and a 4,500-square-foot patio.
