Chappelle first met Robinson when he was 15 or 16 years old and training for the U.S. Olympic high-jump team. Chappelle went to visit relatives in Los Angeles around that time and encountered Robinson.
The two later reconnected when Robinson was attending Pasadena Junior College and Chappelle was at Phoenix (Junior) College. The only time the two competed in the same event was a relay race in which he said he was fortunate enough to move Robinson to the middle of the dirt track where it was muddy, slowing Robinson down so he could beat him.

MACON, Ga. Bibb investigators have made a sixth and final arrest in the Dec. 2020 homicide of a Macon teen.
According to a news release, 16-year-old Malek Bronner and his mother met with investigators around 11:30 a.m. Monday so Bronner could turn himself in.
Bronner was then interviewed about a fatal shooting that happened at the Sandy Springs Apartments on Dec. 21, 2020.
He was then taken to the RYDC, where is he being held without bond on charges of murder and aggravated assault.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The final person wanted in connection to a December 2020 homicide is now in custody.
That’s according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, which said 16-year-old Malek Deshaun Bronner and his mother met with investigators at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Monday morning and that Bronner turned himself in.
Bronner was then taken into custody and is being held without bond at the Regional Youth Detention Center. He’s charged with murder and aggravated assault and is being charged as an adult.

MACON, Ga. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a fifth man in connection with the Dec. 2020 shooting death of a Macon teen.
On Monday, the sheriff’s office announced they’d arrested 19-year-old Christopher Bonner in the parking lot of the Macon Mall after a Crime Stoppers tip. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault.
Investigators are now looking for one last person in the case, 15-year-old Malek Bronner, who will be charged as an adult.

MACON, Ga. Two more people are charged in the shooting that left 1 Macon teen dead and another injured.
A news release from the Bibb County Sheriff s Office says investigators had warrants issued for the arrests of 17-year-old Keymarion Javontae Manor and 15-year-old Naylan Jon’Tez Woodford, in connection to the case.
Investigators and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Fugitive Task Force found and arrested Manor and Woodford at the Green Meadows Apartment Complex on Wednesday.
Investigators interviewed Manor and he was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Woodford was interviewed and taken to the Macon RYDC.
