Evaluating (Not Grading) the New York Giants 2021 Draft Class

Evaluating (Not Grading) the New York Giants 2021 Draft Class Breaking down the pros and cons of each of the six New York Giants 2021 draft selections. Author: May 6, 2021 As the grades continue to pour in for the six-member class hand-picked by the New York Giants, I’ve resisted assigning grades to the class as it s not fair to do so without giving these kids a chance to get on the field. But that doesn’t mean one can’t look at the pros and cons of each selection and come to a preliminary verdict on each pick’s worthiness by also examining what other options were on the board at the time for the first four rounds.

Draft over, Bills face decision on Allen, Edmunds contracts

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The heavy lifting for Brandon Beane is just getting started after the Buffalo Bills general manager upgraded the team’s pass rush and bolstered its depth with eight selections in the NFL draft. Beane has until Monday to make two critical decisions in determining whether to commit some $35 million in combined salary to pick up the fifth-year options for quarterback Josh Allen and middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. Beane said Saturday he’ll turn his attention to making those decisions now that the draft is over. Whatever choices he makes, increased concern about the salary cap is part of the price of success for Buffalo’s shift from pushover to contender. The Bills are coming off a season in which they won their first AFC East title since 1995 and reached the AFC championship for the first time in 27 years.

Buffalo has the offensive firepower to knock off the Chiefs, but their defense struggled to stop Kansas City in the AFC Championship game. After falling to the Chiefs, Buffalo saw the importance of a pass-rush when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pressured Patrick Mahomes throughout the Super Bowl on their way to a blowout win.

NFL Draft Night One Notes – Joe Tryon to Tampa Bay

NFL Draft Night One Notes – Joe Tryon to Tampa Bay Share this story Photo by Abbie Parr/Getty Images Going into Night One of the draft, the biggest question for UW fans was whether one of the talented defensive linemen would sneak into the back of the first round. DE Joe Tryon and DT Levi Onwuzurike were both rated as early second round picks by most draft experts, but with a premium on defensive linemen, it seemed possible that a team would want to grab one of them at the end of the first. There was an uncharacteristic tension for the last few picks of the round. The Saints took Payton Turner from Houston at #28 to start a miniature run on defensive ends/edge rushers. Miami’s Greg Rousseau came off the board at #30 to Buffalo, and Jayson Oweh went from Penn State to Baltimore with the next pick.
