Brother of young girl killed by gun violence receives dream day of training with Miami-Dade firefighters

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A young boy who lost his little sister to gun violence had a very special day.
13-year-old Sherrod Scott had talked about wanted to become a firefighter and on Tuesday he was given the chance to suit up.
“I like to help people because you have to put yourself in a position like, what if that was you? Because you would want to be helped, right?” he said.
Sherrod spent the day gearing up and training with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, thanks in part to an inner-city organization called Miami Children’s Initiative.

The 13-year-old brother of a child who was murdered in Miami due to gun violence got to fulfill his dream Tuesday in honor of his sister.
Sherod Scott donned a firefighter s uniform and took part in training at the Miami-Dade Firefighters Training Facility in Doral in memory of his sister Chassidy Saunders, who was killed in a drive-by shooting two months ago in Little Haiti.

The six-year-old was leaving a birthday party when she was shot and later died at the hospital.
