$44-million Montauk Point Lighthouse restoration project complete after two years

The lighthouse, built in 1796, once stood about 297 feet from the edge of the bluff, said Mia Certic of the Montauk Historical Society, which owns and operates the property. Erosion has withered that distance to about 95 feet.
