covid shots and they re worried about getting a flu shot because you know, they re just worriers. what are your thoughts on that? i m getting this question almost every day from my patients in the emergency department, my nurses and colleagues. there are a couple of important things. the first is if you have not gotten your covid shot, you can safely get the flu shot and covid vaccine together. so don t avoid one just because you haven t gotten the covid shot yet. second, flu shot works totally different from how covid shot works. they re totally different viruses. just because you ve gotten your covid vaccine doesn t mean to avoid the flu vaccine. we don t yet know how bad this year s flu epidemic is going to be. usually it s bad in the winter especially after a mild year, but the signs we watch like the level of flu in australia, we just don t have those this year
