The case against Walter Sisulu University student Mfuneko Mankengana, accused of assaulting police officers and burning state property during a violent student protest in Mthatha, has been postponed.
The National Prosecuting Authority said the case was postponed to 16 July and would be transferred from the Mthatha Magistrate s Court to a regional court.
The 24-year-old Mankengana made a brief appearance in court on Thursday.

He is currently out on R1 000 bail.
Mankengana faces charges of damage to essential infrastructure, public violence, malicious injury to property and two counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
On Tuesday, 20 April, the police arrested him following a violent protest the day before near the university s Mthatha Campus.

A Walter Sisulu University student accused of assaulting police officers and burning state property during a violent student protest in Mthatha will spend more than a week in jail.
During clashes between police and students this week, a police Nyala was petrol bombed, and four officers wounded.
Mfuneko Mankengana, 24, faces various charges.
