Access to high-speed broadband internet is coming to an additional 3,066 locations in Somerset County and 3,557 locations in Cambria County.
The improvements are a result of the Federal Communications Commissionâs Rural Digital Opportunity Fund Phase I auction. The results were announced Dec. 7 by the federal agency.

First Peoples Community Federal Credit Union once again presented a check Dec. 8, in the amount of $750 to the Meyersdale Area High School on behalf of its SwipeBoost debit card program.
The SwipeBoost! program earns money for the district each time a cardholder âSwipesâ their Red Raiders debit card to make a purchase. The SwipeBoost program was implemented in 2008 and the Red Raiders card was created in 2014.
According to Holly Rugg, Meyersdale branch manager, the SwipeBoost! Program coincides with the Credit Union Charter to meet the financial needs of members and its local communities by giving back.
