INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Jackie Wheat, the chief baker and owner of
Yummy, has had a passion for baking since childhood.
It’s a family tradition inspired by her mother.
“My mom was an excellent cook,” she said. “Family would come and gather around a meal that she would prepare. Food would bring family and friends together and that’s what I hang on to, the nostalgia of it.”
The closest thing she had to those meals after her mother died was Roselyn Bakery.
“They made a Mexican Wedding Cake cookie,” she said. “Well they closed in August of 1999, and I was distraught.”

BATAVIA â Batavia First Methodist Church switched from a Cookie Walk to a Cookie Cruise as a fundraiser this year due to COVID-19 and the effort seemed to pay off Saturday, a church employee said.
First Methodist Children and Youth Ministry Coordinator Sandy Trimmer and her daughter, Emily, were bringing cookie orders to people who drove up to the church. The cost for a 1-pound box of cookies was $10.
The church asked the congregation to bake cookies, Sandy Trimmer said. The community could have either ordered boxes ahead of time or come to the church to buy them.
âWe have lots of cookies. Our congregation was very generous,â she said. âAll of the proceeds are going towards our church, just to keep us here and happy and healthy in the new year.â
