Veteran actor Anwar Iqbal passes away July 2, 2021 KARACHI: Renowned TV actor Anwar Iqbal passed away Thursday afternoon after a protracted illness, according to family and friends. He was in his 70s. The actor had been chronically ill for some time and had issued a statement Saturday, requesting his fans to pray for his health. He had also requested his fans for his privacy during his health struggles. It remains to be known what the cause of death was. However, one of his family friends told The News that Iqbal was suffering from multiple diseases, including diabetes. The veteran television actor and director had achieved fame with his work on the hit drama series ‘Shama.’ He went on to star in Naseem Hijazi’s Akhri Chattan in the early 1980s and acted in many Urdu and Sindhi dramas. He made his directorial debut with the drama Ishq Pecha in 1984 and directed some Urdu and Sindhi dramas.

Three members of TTP sleeper cell held in SITE - Newspaper

KARACHI: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested three suspected militants, said to be part of a sleeper cell of outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who recently formed a new network in the metropolis. Acting on a tip-off, the police carried out action in SITE’s Valika Ground and arrested Niaz Ali, Shahrukh and Ajab Khan and seized three pistols from them, said Keamari SSP Fida Husain Janwari. Niaz Ali had joined the banned Jaish-i-Mohammed in 2015 and got militancy training in 2016, the SSP said, adding that he also collected donations for the JM. Later in 2020, Ali joined the TTP and “brainwashed” youths for carrying out terror activities.

Chinese companies keep Karachi clean--China Economic Net

    KARACHI, Apr. 14 (Gwadar Pro) - As the month of Ramadan is commencing from Wednesday in Pakistan, Chinese firms are tasked by the provincial Government of Sindh to clean Karachi, the country’s largest southern city during the holy month of fasting.   The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has an agreement with Changyi Kangjie Sanitation Engineering Company and Hangzhou Jinjiang Company to collect garbage from the different districts of Karachi city. The companies have been working in the city of Karachi for the past many years removing waste and junk from commercial and industrial areas.   During a recent meeting, SSWMB directed the Chinese companies to keep the city clean during Ramadan, according to a press statement. The officials of the Chinese companies informed the city government that the companies were mobilizing all their team members in this regard. They are lifting garbage from the city while adopting international standards.
