China’s CRRC Corporation Ltd will begin supplying Metro
coaches by mid-2022, the
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (
BMRCL) said, clearing the doubt that the project was cancelled. Officials said the company which bagged the Rs 1,600 crore tender to supply 216 coaches is currently finalising the design of its upcoming manufacturing plant at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh.
“We will start getting supply in the second half of 2022. We had placed orders for 216 coaches. The first 24 coaches will come from
China. The remaining 192 coaches will be manufactured in India. The supplies will go on till 2023,” a senior BMRCL official told Bangalore Mirror.

Kanakapura Road on the
Green Line
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), which is gearing up to open the first stretch of 72-km Phase-II corridor on January 14, estimates the 6-km long Metro line to benefit at least 75,000 commuters on a daily basis. The new corridor built along Kanakapura Road comprises of five elevated Metro stations along the Green Line.
On Thursday, Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of
Housing and Urban Affairs and CM BS Yediyurappa will flag off the inaugural train at 4.30 pm from Konanakunte Cross Metro Station. Commercial operations will start from Friday.

After the successful launch of the train service to the Airport, here is one more step towards easing commuting in Bengaluru. Namma Metro s 6 km Yelachenahalli to Silk Institute stretch of the Green Line will be flagged off on January 14, the Chief Minister tweeted.
