NewsChannel 5âs Rhori Johnston recently got a rare, up-close look at the damage inside the so-called hot zone with a person who knows a lot about the important history of the area: Ann Roberts, the former director of the Metro Historical Commission. It hurts my heart to see this, and yet, I can see that it s salvageable,â Roberts said, as she toured the blast zone.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â The full lineup of musical performers for the 2nd Ave Strong virtual benefit concert has been announced.
NewsChannel 5 will air the event on March 26 from 7 to 9 p.m., which aims to raise $2 million for the restoration and preservation of Second Avenue after the Christmas Day bombing.
The concert will feature performances by Ashley McBryde, BRELAND, Derek St. Holmes, Lee Brice, Lindsay Ell, Old Dominion, Phil Vassar, Phillip Phillips, Scotty McCreery, Tyler Rich and Shenandoah featuring special guest Gyth Rigdon.

On Friday, March 26, an all-star roster of local politicians and country music favorites will partner for a two-hour musical event. The 2ndAveStrong benefit will be live-streamed from 7-9pm CT via NewsChannel 5, the Wildhorse Saloon, Grand Ole Opry, and Metro Historical Commission Foundation’s websites and social media channels. It will help support immediate and long-term efforts to restore the Second Avenue neighborhood impacted by 2020’s Christmas Day bombing, plus support preserving many of Music City’s most treasured landmarks.

The event featured musical performances by Old Dominion, Ashley McBryde, Lee Brice and Scotty McCreery from the stage of the iconic Wildhorse Saloon on March 26. The concert also takes a look into the important role Second Avenue has played in Nashville s history and features a tribute to the heroic first responders. Nashville Mayor John Cooper and Gov. Bill Lee will make an appearance.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â A new fundraiser, created by the Metro Historical Commission Foundation and The District, hopes to raise money to help preserve Second Avenue s history as it is rebuilt.
The fundraiser was launched earlier this month to help restore the 150-year-old buildings that were badly damaged during the Christmas Day bombing. There are a number of funds out there to help people, we decided that we really needed to focus on the buildings, Ann Roberts said. Roberts is a preservationist and also the former longtime director of the Metro Historical Commission. Several of the commission s current members credit her with saving Second Avenue from development in the 1980s.
