LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, the city s top health strategist and even Santa Claus rolled up their sleeves Wednesday to receive the coronavirus vaccine as the city continues to develop a plan to vaccinate thousands upon thousands more.
Fischer, Dr. Sarah Moyer of the Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness and Kriss Kringle â or a pediatrician dressed like him â joined frontline health care workers in receiving an initial dose of Moderna Inc. s COVID-19 vaccine when 3,000 doses arrived in the city Wednesday. I m feeling really excited right now, almost to the point of tears, Moyer said. Today is the 286th day that my staff has officially been battling the pandemic, but, really, it s really almost a year for us, because we started tracking data and monitoring the situation in China last December.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) Police officers, firefighters, grocery store employees and senior citizens could all be included in the next round of coronavirus vaccinations.
After the FDA approved Moderna s vaccine, a CDC advisory committee issued recommendations for who should be included in the next phases of vaccinations. That includes another group of front-line workers. Something we gotta do â our customers are important to us, said Mike Whitaker, who manages the ValuMarket in the Mid-City Mall.
Whitaker, a longtime employee at the ValuMarket, said, despite the pandemic, he and his co-workers see themselves as essential workers and take a lot of pride in being there for customers.
