Adat Shalom Welcomes New Rabbi Daniel Horwitz | The Detroit Jewish News

25 Horwitz was selected by the Forward as one of the most inspiring rabbis in North America. Rabbi Daniel S. Horwitz, a product of the Metro Detroit Jewish community, has been hired by Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills.  “I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to return home in order to join the Adat Shalom community,” Horwitz said in a statement from the synagogue. “In addition to having the chance to work alongside world-class colleagues and committed lay leaders, as someone who thrives on being in meaningful relationships with others, I’m excited to connect (and in some cases, reconnect) deeply with those who make up the Adat Shalom family.” 

JCC Exploring Satellite Operations in Berkley/Oak Park and Detroit

(Courtesy of JCC Facebook) The new concept, called “Off-Center,” would have the Center lease multi-purpose programming space in new communities.   The Jewish Community Center of Metro Detroit is in the beginning stages of developing a concept called “Off-Center” — a satellite JCC operation to serve as an “east side hub” located in the Berkley/Oak Park area and a possible additional location in Downtown Detroit.   JCC Assistant Executive Director Judy Loebl, who helped conceive of the idea, said this is the latest step in the JCC’s shift from being a “building” to a “concept” — the ability to provide programming to the entire Metro Detroit Jewish community.
