CA South to reinvent property near interstate loop, lands backing from Connecticut REIT
Roughly two years after details emerged regarding a local real estate investor group’s exploring redevelopment options for a site located near downtown Nashville’s inner-interstate loop, a different entity has surfaced and plans a mixed-use project for the site.
According to documents filed with Metro, Nashville-based CA South Development seeks to undertake redevelopment of the 3.14-acre 16-parcel property, which fronts Eighth Avenue South at its T-intersection with South Street at
Moni Advani, chief investment officer of Nashville-based Morph Hospitality Group (which owns various restaurants including Chauhan Ale and Masala House in the North Gulch), is one of the owners of the site. Advani manages Eighth and Division Investments GP, which paid about $8.9 million for the various properties in 2015, according to Metro records.

University will redevelop property near historic Sony Building on 18th Avenue South
Vanderbilt University officials are eyeing an overhaul of their property on the east side of 18th Avenue South near the Peabody campus with the eventually updated site to accommodate a chancellor s residence and events space.
A document submitted to the Metro Planning Department notes the university seeks to demolish various buildings on the site, which is anchored by the historic Sony Building.
In February 2020, the university announced it is planning the chancellor s residence. At the time, vanderbilt.edu noted the university plans to sell the current executive residence, formally known as Braeburn and located in Belle Meade, and use the funds to construct the future home. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â The City of Nashville says itâs in talks with Bristol Motor Speedway to bring televised NASCAR racing to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. If the partnership comes to fruition, racing could begin as early as 2022.
According to a release from Mayor John Cooperâs Office, an agreement would preserve and upgrade Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and would also turn the track into a âsignificant money-making operationâ for the fairgrounds.

Metro Nashville is in talks with Bristol Motor Speedway to bring NASCAR televised racing to an improved, historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Such racing could take place as soon as 2022.
A successful agreement would preserve and upgrade Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway as one of Nashville’s unique entertainment assets. Such an agreement would also turn the track into a significant money-making operation for the Fairgrounds.
The Speedway is the second-oldest operating motor speedway in the United States, dating back to 1904. It has a storied connection with racing, including being a showcase for legendary drivers such as Dale Earnhardt, members of the Petty family and our own Darrell Waltrip.
