Nebraska opened a new drive-up vaccine clinic Thursday at the Metro Community College Fort Omaha campus.It will be open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Officials with the Nebraska DHHS said they plan to give out 400 shots each day of the clinic. The state says it’s able to do this because it finally had enough vaccines to expand its reach. Chris Rodgers is the president of the Douglas County Board of Health.Rodgers, who is also a Douglas County commissioner, said he’s happy to see the state’s first drive-up clinic was put in North Omaha.He’s optimistic that it will serve a community hit hard by the virus.“Every step that’s further, every access point, is another opening of light in the tunnel where we give people hope to try to hold on,” Rodgers said. “And we really need them to hold on because that variant is in the community.
